One of the World's unique drives and Canada's only all season public road to cross the Arctic Circle, the Dempster Highway is famous for its colourful alpine tundra landscapes, wildlife, scenic vistas, and memorable driving adventures. This road trip takes you from Whitehorse, through Dawson City, up to Inuvik, NWT and back again.

Package Includes 7 nights accommodation, 7 days Deluxe SUV rental (includes unlimited Km, LDW, Windshield and tire insurance, extra driver and 3rd party liability insurance), and one-way Air North flight for 2 passengers between Whitehorse & Inuvik on day 1.

Not included in the package: Transportation from your departure city to and from Whitehorse, meals, tours and activities, personal extras, gratuities, travel insurance.

Day tours and activities

Round trip flights from Air North's gateway cities into Whitehorse to start yoru adventure (Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Yellowknife).


Day One

Travel to Inuvik, NWT.

Take your Air North flight from Whitehorse to the city of Inuvik. On arrival, you will pick up your SUV and check-in at your hotel. The rest of the day is for you to explore Inuvik.

Day Two

Spend the day exploring the area around Inuvik or driving the new section of the Dempster up to Tuktoyaktuk for the day to check out the Pingo National Landmark!

Day Three

Drive through a mountainous, almost lunar landscape to Eagle Plaines, the half-way point between Inuvik & Dawson City. There are very few settlements between Fort MacPherson and the start of the Dempster so this is a good place to take a break and refuel. Make sure you stop at the Arctic Circle viewpoint on the way, about an hour north of Eagle Plains and take a picture! Keep your eye out for wildlife and watch the incredible landscapes as you cross the MacKenzie and Peel Rivers.

Day Four

Drive through the Blackstone Uplands and Tombstone Park to Dawson City. Make a stop at Tombstone Park Interpretative Centre to learn more about the park and enjoy the amazing views. On arrival to Dawson City, check into your hotel and get ready to enjoy the afternoon in the Paris of the North! Do not miss the Diamond Tooth Gerties Casino!

Day Five

Experience the Gold Rush! Spend the day exploring Dawson. Visit the Goldfields and try gold panning for gold, enjoy one of the tours offered by Parks Canada and dont forget to visit the Cultural centre. In the afternoon get a bird's eye view of the landscape from the Top of the Midnight Dome and if you feel adventurous try the Sour Toe Cocktail.

Day Six

Drive along the Klondike Highway to Whitehorse. Enjoy the scenery and stop in at some of the small Yukon towns along the way. In Whitehorse check into your downtown hotel and enjoy an evening stroll by the Yukon River, make a stop at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre and enjoy some local cuisine in one of the many fantastic restaurants.

Day Seven

Your last day in the Wilderness City! Take a stroll over Main street for some souvenir shopping, visit the Wildlife Preserve or the local hot springs or why not join any of the day tours available in town, canoing, horseback riding or flightseeing are great options.

Day Eight

Today is the last day of this adventure, drop of yoru rental car at the airport and catch your flight back home full of amazing memories.


Due to the nature of this package, changes to the itinerary are a possibility.

Extra additional drivers can be added if needed for a fee of $7.95 p/day p/driver.

Recommended age for driving is 25 years old. The minimum age to drive is 21 years old and any driver between 21 to 24 years old must pay an underage fee of $20 p/day p/driver.
